New Year, New Undies

The new year has arrived! Many of you have made your New Year's resolutions and are well on your way to making them a reality. For me, I have decided to make a few of my own underwear related resolutions and I thought I would share them with you. Not only might it inspire you to create some underwear resolutions for yourself, but putting these out into the world will help keep me accountable.

Resolution 1: Out With The Old

In December, I did an underwear inventory and found I had over 275 in my collection! When I added in swimwear, I was over 300! That is A LOT of underwear and swimwear, though I wear two to three per day so maybe it's not really that much (side note, it's thinking like this that resulted in that total being over 300).

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you may have seen the results of that count...a sale of some of my underwear. I decided that the best way to start the new year would be to clear out some of the undies I no longer wear. In doing so, I was able to put a stop to my underwear hoarding, others were able to enjoy the underwear that I never wore, and I decided to donate all of the money to Sage to advocate for LGBT elders. It has been so freeing and enjoyable to get rid of SOME of my underwear and give to others, so if you use Poshmark, bookmark me because you never know when more might appear for sale.

Resolution 2: Try A New Brand

I am always on the lookout for a new brand and that will continue in 2019. So many brands are adding their unique spin on underwear and I can't wait to see what brands launch in 2019. Many of us, myself included, have our favorite brands that we tend to buy a lot from each year. While there is nothing wrong with that, I encourage you to join me in branching out and trying new brands this year.

Resolution 3: Try A New Style or Fabric

Remember that underwear inventory? I found that I had over 100 thongs in my collection. Compared to a count I did two years earlier, that number grew from 12 to 105. Suffice it to say I embraced my love of thongs between 2016 and 2018. For this year, my goal is to focus on some of the other styles I have not embraced as much and see if my opinion of those have changed. Feel free to join me in trying a new style or perhaps a few fabric.

Resolution 4: Save For A Quality Splurge

In 2018 I wrote a post about how great it is that there are lots of underwear options for any budget. However, you also get what you pay for. My challenge to myself and to you is to find something you really LOVE, no matter what the price and see what you can do to save and treat yourself to that. Maybe it's a brand you've always wanted to try but never splurged on. Maybe it's some extravagant custom underwear. Whatever it is, save up and treat yourself. You deserve it!

Resolution 5: Spread The Underwear Love

2018 brought many opportunities to spread the underwear love. While the blog and social media posts reach a decent size audience, I find that I can make just as big of an impact by spreading the underwear love one-on-one. A week wearing thongs at a gay resort in Palm Springs lead to a number of conversations with guys about swimwear and underwear and even inspired a few to purchase thongs for the first time. In 2019 I will spread the love even more and encourage you to as well. I encourage you to wear what you want to those summer pool parties and vacations. Help encourage guys to try something new and break out of their underwear and swimwear routines. Let's make this a fantastic 2019 for gear!

I hope you will join me in some (or all) of these resolutions for 2019. I also hope you will all keep me accountable for these resolutions so make sure you send me ideas of new brands and styles you think I should try and ideas for a special splurge. Happy New Year!
