Enclosed Moving
Enclosed Moving
why if you throw something while on a moving train or bus does it land in the same place?
ok what i mean is if your in an enclosed moving object like a train and you throw a ball in the air, why does the ball not end up further back than where you first throw it?? when its in the air should the train not move from beneath it and the ball be left further away in the direction opposite to the direction that the train is moving?? this question is hard to write sensibly!
When the ball was in your hand it was also moving horizontally like you. Even after throwing into air, it continues to move horizontally as well as vertically.
Hence it reaches you again.
The actual path of the ball is a parabola.
And during this time of flight its horizontal velocity does not decrease to a significant value to observe.
