Is the compression ratio of a Diesel rated before the turbo-charging compresses the fluid further?
For example. 21:1 on a 3.0 liter 5 cylinder turbo-diesel.
Yes, on gasoline engines too. The advertised compression ratio is the relationship between the size of the cylinder at bottom dead center to the size at top dead center. This is not a particularly useful number, considering the intake valve timing and boost pressure effect the actual amount the air is compressed.
