Scissor leaps?
i have been dancing all my life and have got all my leaps down.. except for scissor leaps, no matter how hard i try i just dont get enough airtime to push my leg front than back and i cant seem to get my front leg all the way straight out in front of me
any suggestions?
OMG ME TOO!
well...at least i used to...haha.
well no one ever even taught me, my instructor showed me how to do the movement not the actual leap, only 1 time.
it took me like a week and a half to learn it!
but the best tip i have for you is to keep the leg that your switching, turned out.
once i got that, i started to actually get the movement, and i then started to do teeny tiny ones.
but then, yesterday, after my hiphop class (8 years and going strong baby!) i went outside and i just felt really energized so i gave it a try and i just did one perfectly!!!
i wasnt even thinking about it!
so yes thats tip #2. dont think about it too much. as long as you have the foot work (chasse chasse and then take two good steps), as long as you have that down, just go for it and practice!
Finally, tip #3, make sure ur stretched out and warmed up. The hip hop class i took is really hard, so it gets your heart beating, but make sure that your pumped up, not exhausted.
then youre ready to jump higher!
