What type of fluid goes in the rear of a cub cadet 2166?
The owner's manual says to buy the specific cub cadet oil but the nearest place to buy any is over a half hour away. Can you just put hydrolic oil in it or does it take something different?

Deffinitely an oil and not a lube. There is a dip stick in the rear end.
If your talking about the rear end that your tire and rims attach to it's gear lube and can buy it locally at any auto, hardware, wal mart stores. You don't have to buy there specific oil its just a way to make them more money, its the same as Ford or Chevy saying you have to buy there type of motor oil.
Add; it would not be hydraulic fluid, and where in the rear are you wanting to add the fluid if not the rear end? This would help to know.
