Track Drill

Track Drill

What are good excercises to get in shape/ready for track tryouts?

I'm trying out this year and i wanna know what'd be good to do to get in shape/ready.

endurance,speed, drills,etc

It all depends on what events you're planning on doing during the season.

If you would like to do sprints/short distance, I would recommend doing strength exercises for your core along with doing repetitions of the event that you're planning on doing. For example, I would strengthen your core: back, abs, obleks (sp?), chest, arms (biceps, triceps, and deltoids), and legs (quads, hamstrings, and calves). Also, I would do repetitions of a specific distance, i.e. 10 repetitions of 120 meters.

If you're planning on doing long distance events, I would also recommend strengthening your core. BUT instead of going for bulk, I would try for lean muscles. For example, instead of doing 3 sets of 3-5 repetitions of a heavier weight for yourself, do 3 sets of 10 repetitions of a weight that would get you tired on the last 3 repetitions of each set. I would also include doing anywhere between 3 and 8 miles for each run, doing strides/sprints at the end, and making sure you stretch.
